The young Dagestani police officer was heroically killed by armed militants near his home village of Sergokala.

By Presidential Decree No. 486 of September 21, 2016, Lieutenant Magomed Nurbagandovich Nurbagandov was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the Russian Federation for his courage and heroism shown in the line of duty.
